I had the non Revo model Dueler AT's on my old truck and liked them better than the Rugged Trails that came on my double cab.


I hear the Revo's are great.. I'd check them out.

 

i would suggest revo's. great wear characteristics and traction in all conditions except mud. also very quiet and smooth riding

MY TRACTION SUCKS IN THE RAIN.
it rained today and almost everytime i left a stop or hit a corner even the tiniest bit too hard my traction was long gone.

 

i the a/t's arent as good on the tain get the m/s ones the soccer mom ones.

im using michellin pilot ltx tires and they rule.

 

I don't know if his tires are maybe a little more deflated than mine,
But I get about 2-3 miles better gas mileage then he does.
And I have the BFG A/T.... And I am a light foot when I drive his 4Runner, because wrecking the 4Runner I would like to own one day would not be a good thing....

 

My Toyo ATs are great in the rain - that is one of the reasons I bought them.

 

I've got LTX M/S's with about 30K on them. They still look like brand new... My dad has somewhere near 70K on them and they're starting to bald... They suck as an off-road tire but are decent as a wet pavement tire... I'm not going to use them next time though, I can guarantee that.

 

When I was around 23, my car slid into a curb in the rain and was totalled. Yeah, I took the turn a little too fast, but still. Since then, I have never and will never buy Michelins.

 

Thanks for the info. I've heard/read good things about the REVO. Will check it out. Yes, the Michelins do last forever. I just got the same model for my wife's Sequoia because they had really good ratings on tirerack.com. I've never had any problems with them until now. I'm sure my problem relates more to the age of the tire and the weather cracking.

 

At ~ 50% tread life, my '00 OEM Goodyears started to hydroplane, and I could punch it hard and break them loose at 60 mph on a wet smooth highway. I called Goodyear CS and discussed the hydroplaning problem with them. They agreed to pay 50% of the "out-the door" cost of a set of Fortera HL's from the dealer of my choice. The Fortera's give a much better ride and I have had no problem with traction.

Goodyear MTR's

Been thinking about having my MTR's siped, they are slick on wet surfaces.

 

I figure I've gotten my use out of these tires. My wife filled out several surveys and bought some stupid trinkets online from several places a few days ago. We're supposed to receive a $500 coupon for tirerack.com for doing so. Hopefully I won't have to wait long and it's legit. Thanks for all the feedback.

Ron--nice job on getting Goodyear to foot some of the bill for replacements! I think I'm out of luck calling CS with my dry-rot Michelins

 

I had the POS BFG rugged trails on my last truck in Portland - the thing wouldn't stay attached to the road around corners. I switched to REVO's and immediately noticed a huge difference in wet traction - also great in the snow and good off-road (as good as my old Jeep's BFG AT KO's).

 

As a side note, I filled out one of those surveys and jumped through some hoops for a laptop last year - it actually worked! I just felt like a schmuck while I was doing it. My wife also thought I was an idiot. - Good Luck

I used to have Michelin LTX knock-offs, and they were horrible in the rain, worse in the snow, and they didn't do well in the dry either. My BFG M/T's are signifigantly better in all conditions.

Well it was raining today here and on the way to get my timing belt chaged i was playing around with the rain and seeing how much power my new toy had. and if i stopmed on it i could make it slip, almost too much for comfort. but overall i have to say i am happy with the goodyear wranglers that are on it. When i was driving normal they didn't have any problems at all. And when i put in 4wd i could not make it slip at all.

on a side note: I was also messing with the ABS and it worked great as this is my first car with it. It shocked me the first time i hit it on purpos. i thought i had broke something! But after another few stop signs (there are like 100 just leaveing my house...) i was amazed how well they work and with bad brake pads/rotors no less...

 

I did have the MTR'S siped.

Now all that's needed is some rain to see if it worked.
