How to tell what gear ratio's '89-'95 pick-ups have?

I am looking for a non-ADD 4.56 front third from a '89-'95 pick-up and was wondering how to figure out what the gear ratio is by the sticker on the door jamb. I was looking at them and the truck stickers are different than my 2nd gen. sticker. So if anyone has any links to a site that explains how to breakdown the code, thatd be great!
Thanks

i have a 4.56 front diff complete from when i did my solid axle if you want one, it was ADD but i dont THINK it matters

if the truck came with 31s from the factory it has 4.56 gears 95+% of the time, you can tell that by looking at the spare tire carrier. 31 in spare mounts are offset so that the rod you use to lower it enters at an angle from the center of the rear of the truck towards the drivers side. smaller spares like 29 inchers (4.10 gears) the mechanism is mounted so that the rod enters parrallel to the long axis of the truck.

that method should work most of the time, i think i remember an article on 4x4wire that listed the door sticker codes and what options they corresponded to.

I am pretty sure that anything in the 91-95 range will be ADD only. You will have better luck looking at an 86-89 IFS truck/4Runner. They have the same diff but sans ADD. Non-ADD and 4.56 may be hard to find together. 4.56 gears would have come in 3.0L v6 engines w/ manual trannys and 31" tires. The v6 didn't come out until '88ish I believe.

Actually I was looking at the wrecking yard today and I found some '94's (i think they were) without ADD. I know they have plenty of diffs to pick from so they should have a 4.56 ratio diff its just a matter of figuring out which rig has it.

It doesn't matter if the third(carrier) is from a non ADD or from an axle with ADD. The thirds and the gears are interchangeable. The only difference is that the ADD third has needle bearings supporting the axle shafts at the differential this helps reduce some wear on the carrier. So any 7.5" third from an 86-95 Ifs pickup, 1st and 2nd gen 4runner or even 93-98 T100 with the 4.56 gears will work.

I know any diff will work but I want to get rid of the ADD actuator.
