5k miles is a little long especaily with syntthetic..isn't that suposed to be changed more often?...I change mine every 3k..you should be changing yours more often even because you are supercharged which also takes engine oil dosent it? For you you shuold probably go every 2.5k miles...you can never change your oil too often

Well I am not too sure about supercharged engines, but I've been told that running sythetics you can go about 5k up to 8K miles before changing. I've went to 5K miles before I start seeing the oil turn a little then I go ahead and change it.

my old '84 had a recommended oil change interval of 10,000 miles.
i think i'm at about 6,000 miles on my dino oil in the 20R. ran it down to 1 quart in the pan(engine has a lot of blowby and bad front main seal), filled it up and i'm probably down to a quart or 2 again, since my gas mileage is around 14mpg now. the more you abuse a 20R, the longer it seems to live. if this was a typical american engine it would've been dead long ago

My 86 runner has a recommended sticker under the hood saying change the oil every 5,000 during severe driving conditions and every 10,000 under normal driving conditions. That being said, I don't think I would go more than 5,000 even during normal driving conditions for my 3.0 speed machine.
I the lube station I go to, they had an advertisement for amsoil which if I remember right recommended their synthetic could go for 7,000 miles.

If I was running dino oil I would change it every 3000 but with synthetic on a stock motor I feel safe every 6000miles with mine and some people go well over 10k on there's but to each his own. If you're changing synthetic on a stock Runner engine less than 5000 miles then you're kinda throwing money away IMO.

Okay, so Toyota recommends to change it every 5,000 for hard conditions and 7,500 for normal conditions... I pretty much run my 02 Taco like a taxi (city driving/idling about 14 hours a day average) due to work... change my plain ol' 5W30 oil every 7-10K miles (which is about every 2-3 months) and she runs like a champ engine-wise. At that point, the oil has darkened a bit, but viscosity hasn't really changed any. If the vis. was changing noticeably (i.e. stringy goopy junk in it) I would definitely decrease the time and mileage between changes.
Best Yota I ever had was a '78 Celica GT... bought it for $125 with 130K miles on it in '88... NEVER changed the oil... it had such a massive leak I just dumped a gallon of Marvel Mystery Oil in it every couple of weeks when the pressure started to fall off. Sold it back to the guy I bought it from for $75 with 230K on it... three years later I saw it driving around town. Man, that was a great car. I wouldn't dare try that nowadays, but I'm still pretty content with exceeding the 5-7.5K mark. IMHO, changing it every couple of thousand is just a waste of $$$. Especially if you're running a full synthetic that's designed to go a zillion miles without breaking down.

Every 5,000 miles. I did that with my last toyota truck and, at 220,000 miles, it was still running perfectly. Plus, it's easy to remember when to change the oil at 5,000 miles. Don't have to think about it or write down when you last changed it.
