I'm looking to get a 99-2000 4cyl 2wd 4runner. I want to drop it 1-3 inches, I haven't decided for sure yet. Is their anyone that makes lowering springs for 4runners? I saw some for sale that were for 4wds, go figure. I have heard of people using Tacoma springs in the front. How about the rear? Could I use sagging rear spring from a second gen runner?

It is hard to find some options on the 4cyl runners. I want keyless entry and ABS. I think i can add keyless pretty easy, but the ABS sounds like it would be a major undertaking. Should I skip over 4runners without ABS?

where theres a will and a deep pocket, theres a way. personally i think stock 4 runners are low enough, of course they don't come stock with 33's.......HEY! Thats an idea!

 

performance products have 1" lowering springs. if youre looking for anything lower, this is definitely not the forum for you

I thought all base model vehicles came with abs now. Seems to be a standard option nowadays but maybe I'm wrong.

the performance lowering springs makes the 4wd one inch lower. BUT since you are going for a 2wd, then it's already one inch lower than the 4wd, in other words it will will not lower your 4runner, but it might improve handling....

 

Shuei in Japan makes the drop springs I believe 2-3". Also an adjustable lateral bar and the short shocks. It was very expensive. Gotta find someone with a Japan connection to bring those parts in.
I have the 2WD also, when I put the 31" on, it really filled the fender gap and I got asked "did you lower it?" a few times...

Lowering trucks has become just as big an aftermarket as lifting. There are companies out there that make dropped spindles for small/midsize and large trucks. Look around get the dropped spindles and then you can move your leafs from over the axle to under the axle which drops the rear about 4 inches. Takes some bucks but its easy to do today.
I imagine, just like in lifting, you have to watch your drive train geometry when lowering.
