How to change lights behind climate control not on limited

Hi there. I have a 2000 3rd gen 4runner.
I need to replace the lights behind the climate controls.

I've found lots of articles on replacing them on a Limited with auto/ac.
That's not what I have and I don't want to break anything.

Thanks, any help on getting at them would be appreciated.

i have not taken out the climate control switch, but ...

I have pulled the radio out a few times !
No screws in the trim that need to be pulled - if you are 4 wheel drive you can inscrew the 4 wheel shifter knob and then starting on one side of the lower trim closest to the center console pull up - that entire section around the shifters will pop out.
The trim around the ac ducts can be pulled out the same way and to fully remove it you will need to disconnect the wire plugs for the defroster , ect, and the rear window.
After that the 4 radio screws are visible and presumably the same for the hvac switch.
I wish I had pics - seems like there may be some in the electronics section here.
Good Luck - it is one of those that sounds harder then it is.
Britt

EDIT - found some pics, although he shows some screws I do not remember. Mine is also a 2000 - maybe his is older.

I also did not pull any knobs off the hvac - no need.

Great, thank you very much!

From that link it looks like I could remove the climate control panel without removing any other panels.

Do you think that's correct?

You will have to pull the trim around the ac ducts to get to it, but beyond that nothing else that I know of.

I forgot that the cigarette lighter , ashtray lamp, and power outlets plugs needed to be disconnected earlier - they show them in that link.
I replaced my lighter ghost ring bulb while there - a cool green, $ 10.00 bulb ... Yay. LOL
