Amsoil says to flush your engine before changing over - I drained old dino out put in new synthetic and switched out the synthetic after 3K. Been running Amsoil since (about 40K) with no problems.

You may want to do a search on this topic. There are those that believe that switching over a high mileage vehicle from dino to synthetic is not a good idea.

1. Remove drain plug, drain old oil.
2. Replace plug
3. Remove old oil filter
4. Clean gasket surface
5. Smear a film of oil on the new oil filter gasket
6. Install oil filter hand tight.
7. Fill crankcase with correct volume of synthetic oil
8. Drive 5,000 miles
9. Repeat.
I've changed over at high mileages (98,000 miles) and lower mileages (60,000 miles). My wife can tell a difference in which oil is in the vehicle, though she never knows what I've done. She likes the way the engine feels with synthetic and the '95 4Runner gets about 1 mpg better on it. Can't wait to get it in '99 crankcase as well as the diff, tranny and transfer case.

I have my mom running it in her 97 Infiniti QX4 also. It too runs MUCH quieter.
If you have questions, check out Gadgets page on oil; he has some great insight.
