Hopefully Not A Silly Question?
Ok here it is, is there a difference between the toyota pick-up pre 1995 and the 4Runner pre-1996 transmissions? The only reason I ask, is because when I had my truck, it was lifted of course, and I was running 35's with no problems and the axle gears were 4.10's. Now my 4Runner is a 95 and I am running 35's and the axle has 4.56's and it runs like a turd! I am just curious! I will be going straight axle withing the next year or so with an engine conversion! At that point in time I will change the gearing. Thanks!

If you have the Auto Tranny with the 3.0, that would explain the lethargic response from those tires and those gears. 5.29's would be better suited for that application.
Hope this helps.

Well, I still think that 4.88's would be the minimum gears that you should run with 35's. 5.29's or even 5.71's would be better. Yeah, I know they're expensive, but you'll need them if you want to regain the lost power.
Hope this helps.
