I searched all over here and the net and have not come up with rear coil spacers less than an 1 1/2". I thought I saw a member here who had a homemade spacer lift kit, or am I mistaken? I am just looking for no more than one inch of rear lift to get a slight rake on my truck. The only thing I can think of is making my own. Anyone have an idea of what material to use?

 

cornfed makes a 1" rear spacer. OME also has a 10mm trim packer. I think you can combine 2 packers to net 20mm. I may use an OME for my left rear wheel. I recently installed the 99 springs, and the left rear is a little low due to the weight of the gas tank.

 

I would like to do it for less than $100. I would buy new rear coils before I pay that much for spacers. I am just looking for a cheap temporary fix until I can get my lift and 285's. I thought about the OME trim packers, but 2 stacked will barely net .75". I would like a little more rake than that.

 

I made a set of 4 for under $20. Order a small sheet of HDPE from Mcmastercarr. You can get pretty much any size and thickness you want. I went with half inch. A little cutting and sanding later I had four of them. I ended up giving the other set to another member on here. If you need any other info, let me know. By the way that .5" is just what I needed. Can you give some detail on how you made them. Like what size sheet and what you used to cut them? I am gonna try this route. It is worth a shot for $20.

 

Hey ShiftMX - what happened when you mixed the front 99 springs with the rear OME 906 springs? Were the rear springs too tall? Do you remember what measurements you had (ground to wheel well)? Thanks

 

I bought a 12x12 sheet from mcmaster-carr. I traced out the outside size, then used a compass to get the inside circle perfect. I used a jigsaw and cut out the inside first then the outside. It wasn't perfect but it sat nice and tight between the spring and the bumpstop. You could route or even melt a groove for the spring to rest in, but I didn't bother. The white in the pic is the spacer..

 

The rears gave a little too much rake for my taste. The front was already tall enough with the 99 springs and we all know it is easier to change the rears than the fronts. So i put a set of 99 springs back in the rear and it is 1/2" lower than the front. This is the reason I am looking to make spacers. I am not sure off the top of my head what the 906's came to be, but I think it was 36.5" w/ 265 75 tires.

frodin - do the spacers you made cause the rear springs to squeak with them? I think I am gonna order my sheet of hdpe this weekend. I am glas you said 12x12, i was about to get a 24x24 just in case

 

No squeeking at all. I was worried about them shifting around at first, but they sit pretty snug around the bumpstop so they haven't moved at all. I've got the Tundra/OME lift and it sat perfectly level, I just thought it looked a little bit better with a tiny bit of rake to it. An inch would have been to much for my application. This material has been used in the past by a lot of other members for the same purpose. That's where I got the idea and the place to get the HDPE. Good luck!
