homemade front bumper question
i did a search and only found somewhat half answers....
My buddie wants to mount a home made front bumper to his frame(2000 taco extended cab 3.4 5 speed 4x4), and is thinking about removing his driver airbag. Is there a way to avoid doing this and not set them off if u hit something with the bumper while your out and about in the desert or 4x4in?
maybe a on and off switch like the passenger side has?
also if he puts rock runners, or sliders under the doors is there a chance hitting them can set the airbag off?
thanks in advance.

It is illegal to put an inspection sticker on a vehicle that has an airbag removed/deployed. That being said get a Haynes manual and it will explain how you remove the airbag without deploying it. Good luck

we do not have inspection stickers in cali, just have to smog our cars every 2 to 4 years depending on the year and we get a plate tag.
we know how to remove the bags, done it a few times, But we are looking inot a disrupter switch like the passenger side has.

why not just leave the airbage disconnected when you install it? of course you'll have an airbag light on your dash...but it wont go off..
slight bumps on the truck arent going to set off the srs. it takes a certain direction and velocity of impact to set em off. ive banged up on my sliders plenty of times, as well as scraped the hoops on my arb. no issues.
