Post HID kits on ebay and in general

okay so iv got some money and after comming home for thanksgiving and back i want hids. the local 4x4 shop in missoula has some that they will sell, instal, and aim correctly as to not blind others for around 500-600 bucks maby more. then on ebay they have kits going for around 175-365 and it would be about 200 bucks for instalation. these kits come with osram or hella balasts. which do you guys think i should get? price is a huge issue otherwise id get a set from an sc430 or a catz system and get custom projectors mounted in my existing headlamps by that company.
thanks

You should save some money and do it once correctly, meaning: getting projectors that were design for Xenon/HID bulbs, this is the only way to get great visibility without blinding other people. Check out HID Planet for a lot of information on HID. I just completed retrofitting Infinity FX projectors into my 2000 headlights. Good luck!

do you mean you're going to get the projectors? best kits that are out there are philiphs Ultinon Xenon kit and also Katz. Those run around $500 alone, You'll also need projectors which are usually around $100-$150 on ebay(Audi, BMW are most popular and best ones) that's without retrofitting labor. someone on this board has also done this. Run a search and you'll find out more. He used aluminum foils to make his shroud. If you want one without projectors, you can get a shield kit to aim correctly for around $60 if i remember correctly. If you go without projectoros, install would be very easy for DIY.

just buy the billet HID shields from casper electronics like i did, as long as you have an H4 it'll work. the D2S or D2R HID bulb just fits right in and you can aim your own headlights. i have them and there are no problems at all with beam pattern.

so you can buy like an OEM hids(Lexus, Audi, Acura) and use this adapter to fit it in plug-and-play?

Yup, you miight need a screw to hold the bulb down from rotating though.

I can't do retro for you but I can point you to the correct people, You can find all the information about retrofitting Xenon/HID on Hid Planet. To take off the front glass, you'll need to preheat oven to 275, turn it off, put your headlight(one at the time) for no more than 7 min, than carefully pry out the glass with a knife. To seal it back use the same method.

I'll take pics sometime this week of my projector beam pattern. I do however have pics of the Casper shields as kawaii005 said. Beam pattern is just like normal stock lights, just more intense.
