Kick ass man. That looks great. I think I am going to one more project to do to the runner when I get back from the sand box.

That's a big fat REJECTION sticker in MA...the laws may be different in WA.

Haven't taken any yet, but I'll take some later today. My rig is currently getting it's timing belt and water pump done...

hmm

I noticed that your dash is blue... I WANT IT! how did you do it? I have been exploring ideas for a while and I can't find the right led's to replace the stock ones. I can easily solder them myself just need to know where they are and what part # to buy for blue led's Thanks!

i'm pretty sure we could just do a similar retrofit. shouldn't be that much different.

Check out this thread:
Gauge and Dash backlighting

You shouldn't have to solder anything... I just replaced all the bulbs with blue plug and play LEDs. It really changes the look of the interior.

Really it's pretty much the same process, just different headlight housings. You can pretty much do a projector retrofit to any vehicle. You may run into different fitment issues, such as the space behind the headlight, etc... but I think a 2nd gen would be pretty similar to a 3rd gen.

Heck, I've heard of people doing retros on '67 Mustangs and such...

here you go, you probably have sign up to view it, but it's about doing this on a 91 4runner

I don't know about you guys, but all of the dashes that i have seen (including my own) have light and dark spots because of the leds, and I even have the ones that send the light out to the sides and everything and it still sucks, I'll have to take a pic or something, but what really bothers me is that you can't dim the led's at all, not an issue if you like having bright leds in your face all the time, but I would like to dim them just a little

I don't know about 3rd gen 4runners, but on my truck all the dash lights are 194's and 74's, and all of the stock ones are just regular bulbs with these little rubber covers that are green, people sometimes call them condoms when I decide to stop being lazy, I'll find some red ones to swap out for my leds

Oh, and I also tried to get some regular bulbs that are colored (they have a sprayed on coating on the outside or something) red to replace my led's and they looked red when you look at them until they are lit, then they look pink I wish they wouldn't be cheap and at least make them like the christmas lights and use red glass instead of spraying red clear coat on regular glass

just my two cents, as I have probably wasted $40 in stupid dash lights and I am sure that if I wanted to dim the leds I could waste some more and get them to work right, but I am just done with the BS

it seems like most of the guys who do it just get the cheapo ebay lights to cut up, why do it on a $100 round eye's kit? you could sell those for $50 and that will pay for some of the retro and the plastic will be easier to do anyways

My dash doesn't have any hot spots... I used to have some in my climate control, but I got some 3-LED 74 bulbs and they did the trick. Also, my LEDs dim quite a bit before turning off.

I did get the white face gauges, and they match the LEDs great, plus it looks real good during the day.
