I actually didn't use a hole saw... I did all of my cutting/ filing with a dremel. On the first headlight I cut the hole following the outline where the rubber boot fits around, and then from there I just took off a little here and there until the projector sit how I wanted. Then I just copied that with the other headlight.

It really is very straightforward... I didn't have any experience and just an idea of how to do everything from reading on HIDPlanet and on here. As long as you take your time and don't cut corners, you'll be fine.

I will mention that the covers can only be purchased with the battery included. Still though, the solar panel and battery are easily removed.

The Product Number is - LZ512SS found here: https://www.intermaticstore.com/ASPI...wRRN=000000190

Once there, just click, the "Parts" tab at the bottom of the page.

Cover itself: Item # LZ512SSA.
Description: SOLAR TOP-WHITE LED-INCLUDES BATTERY.
Price per Cover: $6.25

I ordered 4 (just to be on the safe side) and had them at sitting at my door within 3 days.
put in my order this morning FINALLY the search is over..

Were either of your guys's cutoffs distorted by the glass lens of the headlight? I think mine was distorted a tiny bit. Thanks

If mine is distorted, it's not enough for me to really notice or care about. So, probably, but my cutoff is still pretty sharp

Did you get yours all done? Where's the pics?!?

Distorted in what way? Is the cutoff line itself now somewhat fuzzy (not as crisp as before) or are you getting some extra light about the cutoff?

Oh and which lenses did you use...FX or TSX?

Glass lenses are known for distorting the light in retrofits, which can result in a blurry cutoff, reduced intensity, or other types of distortions.

I think that UNR Grad ended up going with TL projectors, correct?

It's just not as sharp as before, but still sharp and output is still amazing compared to stock halogen. I went with TL projectors and ZKW-replica lenses. I'll post pics once I get some, but it pretty much looks like pfdaxe's and pdyebrasil's retros.

Gotcha.

I'm tinkering around with my own HID retro w/ FX projector & TSX lenses. I'm in the process of installing them into my oem housing, but when I test fire them onto my garage wall, I notice a small band of yellow/gold light appears directly above the center of the cutoff line? It's not that bright, but it is bright enough to notice. I'm sure it's caused by the light reflecting off the gold cutoff shield inside the projector, I'm just surprised I'm getting this bit of stray light above my cutoff line on the wall? I have not seen this happen to others who performed the same retro on FX projectors and TSX lenses. In the pictures I have seen of others who have performed this mod, this yellow/gold light appears below the cutoff line...not above it like in mine.

It's not that big of an issue to me, just something I noticed while doing my own retro.

dang it. how is everyone wiring their highs? i went with the diagram posted and am using the 2 relays, but my highs dont go on unless i have a bulb in the other original socket. seems like theres a feedback system or something in mine thats preventing my highs from working. how's everyone tapping their relay into the stock socket?

I noticed that too when playing with 300ZX lenses and FX projectors, but I think it is actually good. It can function as a squirrel finder of sorts and light up street signs above the cutoff.

I'm glad to know I'm not the only person who has experienced this. I had searched HIDPlanet a good bit a couple months ago, but could not find a single photo illustrating this same occurance. That is what lead me to believe I was doing some wrong.

You're right though, that extra light may be beneficial

I purchased a plug-n-play wiring kit off ebay. It came with everything I needed and was very easy to install.

Wish I could be of more help, but that's how I wired mine up. My high and low beams work just like they should.

That's weird man... But after thinking about it, I think I may have run into something like that. I honestly can't remember what I did or if it was even the same problem. If I did have that problem, it was something small. I'll try and remember though...

Did everyone use their OEM toyota lights for their retros? Mine are the replicas and maybe the cheaper glass less to the tiny bit of distortion.

I used the aftermarket housings for my retro. I honestly did not notice any distortion after putting the projectors in the housings.

I finally shot some videos of them.

A couple notes, 1. Regarding the video on the fence, the camera picked up too much blue, the actual color is about what it is like in the end of it with white underneath, yellow in the center center, and some color to the ends. 2. The video on the street with the highs, it doesn't show accurately how intense the highs are, they are bright! 3. The startup video shows it too blue, it's more of a whitish, light blue color after warming up.
