Thumbs up Hi and Question on IPF Search Light

First of all, hi to everybody here! This is my first message on this forum.

I have a question that I'd like to hear suggestions from you guys. I just got my IPS Remote Search Light few days ago and I'll install it this weekend. Does it make any difference installing it on the driver's side or the passenger's side? I want to have it installed on the driver's side but it seems everybody else is putting it on the passenger's side. What do you think?

If you like the light on the drivers side I say go with that.
Be different from everyone else.

Jeff, I would put it on the driver's side. If you use the light, you would want it nearest your position, so it is most effective. If that sounds goofy, let me put it this way. On a police car, they have the search light right there. It is as if the beam is coming straight from your eyes and helps to search better. I probably totally sounded like I talked out of my , but I hope you understand what I am saying...I do. LOL. Anyways, what I am trying to say is I personally would mount it on the driver's side. Goodluck...oh...welcome to the board by the way! Let us know what happens!

Hey Jeffrey,

That IPF light looks sweet!! Yeah I agree with it being on the drivers side, more power to you.
Tell us where you bought it and how much $$?

Thank you for the replys guys! I want to mount it on the driver's side for the same reason that the beam comes from where my eyes are!!

Candido, I got the IPF light from a guy who bought it from a JAOS dealer but never had it installed. He sold this truck and I bought his search light!!

Now I'll have to deceide where to mount the remote control and I'll do the installation!!

Mark, it seems IPF doesn't sell the search light in a lot of places. In US you cannot get this light directly from IPF dealers. You have to get it from other importers who get them from Japan.

The light is quite cool. With the remote control, you can tilt up & down 80 degrees, and 360 degrees left and right. I'll post more pictures after I finish installing the search light.

You got my curiosity up there Todd. I just called Central and asked about the IPF's since they carry IPF driving lamps.
While I am on hold with him, he told me to check out Go Light's website.

They carry their own style, and you can get them with a wireless remote control.
Check out the 2049 model. Both a dash mounted control and a wireless.

No price on it, but they stock the non remote 5149 for $150, and they get $200 for the wireless model 7900.

Jeff, your IPF one looks very nice. The manger at Central just told me an IPF rep wanted the one you have, and he can't even get it here.
You got a good find there.

Ryan, I'm not sure about the output of the light since the instruction is in Japanese and the only things I understand on the instruction are the numbers. It does say 100W there so I guess that might be the output.

Also I remember that Lloyd (J-Spec185) should be able to hook you up if anybody is interested in the IPF searchlight.

Ok, thanks guys. I was just wondering. I am seeing more and more search lights that run up in the millions of candlepower and I was wondering if they are in that category! What do you use it for Jeffrey? Are you on a search team or something? Just wondering! :beaver:

Ryan, no I'm not in any search team. The light is more like a fog/driving type light with a remote control so I don't think it is in the real "search light" category. I saw the light on Lloyd's truck and it looks fun and cool and that's why I got one for myself.

Hey Jeffrey,

You and I are now the official Search and Rescue Team! Hahaha! J/K

Well in all honesty the search lamp has been a useful item for me....late night fishing trips at the local ponds, shining the cars that tailgate me or drive to slow in the fast lane...hahaha...you know!?

Alright, cool Jeff, I was just wondering. I know that some people are on a search and rescue team so I was just wondering. You know, now that you and Llyod are on the Search and Rescue Team, I will start the fire co. and be the chief, we'll have our own little town and a whole community. Cool! :fireman:
