Hey new here just got a 94 SR5
hey all i just picked up my new winter ride, its a 94 4runner V6 5spd 4x4. its a southern belle with no rust and 140,000 miles. its a clean truck but it needs shocks, 2 ball joints, idler arm, brakes, and tires. i work at a garage so thats no problem it dropped 2k off the price (paid 4k) and shouldnt cost me more than 700. just wonderin what fun stuff there is for the susp while i am in there or any common problems i should fix while in there. thanks, tim.

looks like you have a real beauty there! check out the search feature for suspension mods and you should find all the information you ever thought you would need and then some. wecome aboard and be warned, your wallet will never forgive you!!

welcome, if you are going to wheel with it, either get an extreem idler arm from total chaos$$$$$$$, or a gusset from downey. I rebuild mine about every 8 months.

Welcome Fiveofeen, you'll find plenty of info here. Do a search is a good first step, if your new to 4Runners a few things to look at come to mind. If you've got any history on the vehicle see if the head gasket was ever replaced, keep your rear window guides lubed (wax, or spray silicone), and kiss your wallet goodbye. Lots you can do to your rig or not, very nice ride.

okay i'm checkin on the headgasket thing, whats the window lube your talking about. I'm mechanically inclined and have done a resto/mod rebuild on a mustang but the 4wd is new to me. within 3 hrs of owning it i put new shocks up front (waiting on rears) new frt and rear brakes. gotta get some more time to do the idler and bj's goin moog on them or something lifetime. the brace looks like a good choice. i swapped some cooper disc a/t's on for temp tires cause the pro comps on it were shot. i think i am gonna get the 1.5" rear lift then get some 32's commin. its mainly my winter daily driver vehicle. but i love tweeking and makin the truck more the way i see it.
sorry couldnt help it, here's a pic of the stang the whole reason i needed a 4runner

If your going to offroad it don't forget to do a frame truss crossmember between the rear lower a-arm mounts ,this will help save your frame and will keep wheel camber from becoming to negitive and unalignable in the future. Nice Ride...(both of them)

On the window lube open the tailgate pull off the carpet, undo the screws on the metal cover...take off the plastic and use marine grease on everything that moves including where the window is held by the regulators on the bottom. You can lift the window away from the regulators on the bottom a bit. Be careful not to get the grease on any of the rubber where it slides through the top slot or you'll end up with a perpetually greasy window.
And yup...Nice ride!
