Always wear a respirator when sanding chrome!

Sorry to bring back an old thread, but I'm looking into herculining my rear bumper and rockers and had a few questions.
- How has this stuff held up since you've applied it? Had any peeling/fading problems?
- Will i need to primer my chrome bumper before applying this, or will it stick if sanded properly?
- How long did you wait before applying the clear coat?
- How long did you leave the tape/newspaper on before removing? Basically, I'm making sure the herculiner isn't going to harden on the tape/newspaper and not pull off cleanly.
Thanks for the help guys!

Very well. It is extremely durable. No issues there. Yes, some spots have faded, but they can be restored once the vehicle gets washed and a soft-bristled brush with paint shine is used.

Yes, prime it.

I didn't apply clear coat on the Herc. However, I did on my wheels and fender trim. I waited about an hour in our hot and dry climate.

I didn't use newpaper. I just used painters tape and ripped it off after about 15 minutes.

<96 Runner>,
Have you thought about what you'll do if you dink your bumper? Will this stuff chip?
(I've got a couple good dents in the rear. I thought about removing them and hammering them out and painting the bumper. Possibly with this stuff, but I know I'll just dent it, again.

That's a good question, but it's something I have never been too concerned with. Maybe I just don't wheel hard enough

This pic was taken about 30 hours after application. I also followed the advice of others and put clear coat on over the Herculiner. It is shiny because it is so new and has clear on it.
In addition to the rear bumper and side pieces, I hit the fender trim too. Everything came out awesome!
Again, use a respirator for this you guys! It just isn't worth breathing in these fumes! $27 for a decent one at Lowe's.

I am really curious about chipping and such. I saw a pic in 4wheeler of a fronteer with herc most of the way up the doors. As much as I like my pinstripes, after the one I put on it this morning:pat: , Herculiner seems like a good idea.

its really tacky when going on. if you prep it properly, i dont see it coming off from normal use. now anything will come off on the rocks and trees on the trails but a brush and the left overs and it dosnt have to be perfect!!
