Help What Does This Connect To?!
I'm guessing it hasn't been gone too long since I can still see the difference in the color of were the hose once was. I looked around the engine and couldn't find any hoses or anything. I know it's a vacuum but I don't know what for.

at least plug it until you figure it out.
edit - I assume that's your engine? I'll try plugging it for a bit I'm just scared something's going to blow up

Guys.....any air that get's sucked into the engine should all go through the air cleaner!!!! :pat: If it is sucking in air then it is obviously a vacuum leak and should at the very least be plugged to prevent dirt and debris from getting in there and doing any damage.
No, that is not my engine....I was looking for 2nd gen pics and couldn't find any clear ones to see but I am pretty sure that if you can't find any hanging vacuum hoses then it originally just had a vacuum cap on it. Your engine will certainly not blow up from plugging it.

Don't just plug it! Toyota put it there for a reason, if you leave it open it is like leaving an open hole directly into your intake allowing not only air but dirt to enter.

Back again, I'm not going outside any more its 18 F now and the wind is picking up. Started it up drove down the road and back, popped the plug on drove down the road and back. No noticable difference, a little higher RPM under load. I'll take her for a little road trip tomorrow and let you know if any difference good or bad.

Here is a 3.4L....note the capped line (from the factory):
Anyone have a close up pic of a 2d gen throttle body???

Hey Del.. I just looked at a couple photos on my hard drive, and mine is capped off.. I am gonna bet the cap fell off.
BTW, the cap is the same one in the above photo. I can see the cap in a couple of photos, but not clearly enough to re-post

Well took her for a ride with the cap on (the thingy) no noticable difference, so i'm leaving it on. Way too much effort to pull the hood release, lift the catch, raise the hood, reach in, and take it back off. I'll need to work on my upper body strength, 12 oz. at a time. If anyone knows why its there let us know, it could be for some factory option, or knowing engineers it could be there just to annoy us.

Any vacuum leak with a MAF sensor should be capped/repaired. Its unmetered airflow and unfiltered air. Im thinking that these trucks are sold all over the globe and the port is for something not used here in the US.
