I belive your problem is that you broke your fan. Check to see if it rotates as it should when your car is idling, and as you hit the throttle. My 4runner acted exactly the same way when i hit a big mud puddle. I solved the problem with a flexalite fan...

How do you keep mud, water, debris,... whatever from shooting up from under the truck? I know you cant keep it all out but,... I drove through this mud hole at a fairly slow speed,... and mud shot up from under the truck and hit the underside of the hood. That is not sitting with me well.
