Help with Shot 3.0 litre

I put a thread out there a short bit ago. I had one reply from someone (I thank you) but don't know who it was because the thread is now gone. I am looking for some help for a friend of mine that left Denver and arrived in Vegas without her truck (engine shot). The engine is weak and she doesn't have much money right now. Should she look at selling her truck or get an engine upgrade / rebuild? I am in Denver and would like to help her as much as I can. I am looking for folks that may be able to lend a hand in finding her a honest assesment of her vehicles condition et al. Thanks to all that will respond.

Cool

Most junkyard/salvage yards where you pull your own stuff sell i4's for around 100-120, 6cyl 110-130, v8 120-140.
Keeping in mind it's a lot of work for you to put an engine in for her, and the fact that the engine is normally the reason for 1/2 the vehicles being salvaged...
If you were looking for some you could swap a new engine in, or rebuild hers for several hundred.

Hey nemo, that was me. I wonder why someone deleted your thread? If she doesn't have much money right now, then unless you can do it for her an engine swap would be expensive but would be cheaper than buying another vehicle unless she has good credit.

Thanks for the replies

Sounds like a junk yard may work. We also found out that when her timing belt was replaced they guaranteed the work for 1 year (Have it on paper too). They seem to be very helpful right now and hopefully will repair or whatever it takes. I may have to be a tow truck come soon, but that is OK. If something comes up where we need a good mechanic in the Las Vegas area does anyone on this forum know one...
