Help me find the correct shocks.

Hey guys i am preparing to get everything I need to complete my LC coils install and I need shocks. I have searched and seen people talking about the stock LC shocks that are way cheaper than the OME. I seen one thread that Steve said they were $26 bucks each. How and where do I get them? I ordered a set from toyota of dallas and Jacque called me back and said they were going to be something like $78 bucks each? I ordered part number 48531-69486 which come up to be $67.47 shipped to my door for two. I placed this order on the website. Is this the wrong part number? How could they have went up more than double? Thanks for the help.

The part number you have (48531-69486) is correct. The last time I checked the toyotapartssales.com site, they were $54.20 per pair + shipping. If you got them for !$68 a pair shipped, you did ok.

Yea I agree but I didn't get them for that in fact I didn't get them at all. I placed the order on the website Sunday night and the total came to $67.47 which is fine. Jacque called me back from Toyota of Dallas Monday and said that was the wrong price and they were going to be something like $76 each. That is what I don't understand. How could the price have doubled like that?

The first problem is the part # supersedes to a 48531-69417 plus all the hardware is seperate (if needed). This has been a problem for some time and what Jacque said is absolutely correct. You can order just the shock but the mounting hardware is all seperate and is very expensive. When the part # is ordered it automatically suggest the additional hardware. Here is the list of all the parts it is suggesting
.
PART-NO........ DESC.....
48531-69417 ABSORBER, Qty 1 List $41.97 YT price $29.01
90119-12088 BOLT, W/W Qty2 List 2.31 YT price 1.60
90948-02141 RETAINER, Qty4 List 6.97 YT price 4.82
90948-02144 RETAINER, Qty2 List 10.83 YT price 7.49
90948-03011 WASHER, S Qty2 List 3.17 YT price 2.20
Total $70.87

The problem we face is the company that runs our parts catalog doesn't always have the ability to show that the part# is superceded and may require additional hardware. Jacque did what we trained him to do and that is to call the customer and explain why the web site is different. You can order just the shock and try to use your old hardware. The shock by itself is $29.01 each. I am sorry if Jacque didn't explain this to you so it made sense. When the part # supercedes there is often times hardware that is suggested to be ordered to make it fit properly. I would suggest that you use your old hardware. The new shock does come with new cushions. This is very confusing and the only reason we tell you about the additional hardware is in case you don't have old hardware available. if you do the math you will see the hardware cost at YT price is $41.86. it is up to you whether to order the hardware or just the shock. The one thing that is for sure the new part # is the one to use and forget about the old one. i will not guarantee the old hardware will fit. if I were you I would try it and if not than order the additional hardware. better tahn than order the Old Man Emu shock and be done with it. I hope this somewhat clears this up. If you have any other questions just PM me.

Thanks alot Phil. I understand now. I was by no means bashing your company or Jacque for that matter I was just simply confused. Thanks for the clarification and I hope my old hardware will work.

I didn't think you were bashing at all. it is confusing and sometimes it is just a pain in the a$$ to get the right parts. If they don't work let me know so we can make the recommended changes in the future. thanks for understanding and your help on getting this # sorted out.
