Help! A friend has a electrical problem

My friend just stopped by my office with news of electrical problems with his 1995 Landcruiser.

Here are the symptons:
1. Inside signal lights flash when braking.
2. Won't go into gear from park position.
3. Ouside front running lights flash when braking.
4. Blew brakelight bulbs and fuses.

Here is what my friend did:
A. Replaced brakelight bulbs and fuses (which blew again).

After another replacement, things seem to be working better, but he still has symptons 1 and 3 above.

He has been pulling a light trailer a lot this past week. We are suspecting the harness to the trailer.

Please give me some legit suggestions so I can help my friend out.

Thanks in advance!!
Graham

I suspect you are on to something with the trailer wiring. It sounds as if the Brake circuit has shorted to the turn signal circuit/curcuits. I would start by inspecting the entire trailer pigtail and go from there.

Is the trailer wiring factory/dealer installed of did your friend install it?

Hit us back after you have had a chance to inspect.

Just to update - my friend pulled the trailer wiring harness off the vehicle and everything worked great.

Thanks for all the suggestions!
