Help Finding Transmission Oil Dipstick
Hi. I have a '98 4Runner, manual tranny, 2wd, 2.7 liter version. When the vehicle is running, it's very difficult to shift. When off, it shifts easily into all gears. I know this is likely a sign of needing a new clutch. However, I want to check the level of the transmission fluid and top it off as a temporary fix. I have a feeling it's low.
But I can't find the dipstick and/or fill space for the transmission fluid. I feel like an absolute fool. I'm no mechanic, but I can do really simple stuff like an oil change or fuse replacement. And yet I cannot, for the life of me, find the dipstick for the transmission oil.
When I Google image search where the dipstick might be, I see lots of examples of it near the rear, driver's side portion of the front space. But there's no such dipstick in that location. I've looked everywhere and can't figure out where it might be. Any help would be greatly appreciated!
