Help! 97' Tacoma speedometer/odometer not working at all
I need help trying to figure out what's wrong with my Tacoma's Speedometer and Odometer. Its a 1997 4v Automatic.
My Tacoma had recently started to have problems with its speedometer, when it would reach about 40 MPH the speedo needle would be stuck there while making a loud screeching noise. In order to stop it I had to slow to a lower speed and thats when the screeching stopped and the needle worked again. This happened on multiple occasions but not consistently every day. When I went to start it one morning my whole dash board shifted as if something with a lot of force broke or came loose and then both the speedometer and odometer stopped working completely not tracking miles, trip or giving my speed.
The tachometer works fine and flawlessly. Anyone have any idea as to what happened? Please let me know if you have even the slightest clue! thanks!

I am not 100% sure but I think your Tacoma has a speed sensor .
If that is the case the drive box in the cluster seized up and broke.
Maybe something just jammed but the noise was a sign something is wrong
Without taking things apart know real way to know just what is wrong or what you need.
Part # 83110-04080 but you would need to double check with your VIN
Cost at Camelback Toyota was $205.96
