Ok.. long story short I've been having electrical issues, first rear tailgate power lock stopped working, now nothing works if the vehicle is not running.

I want to remove the rear pannel on the tailgate, I started to tonight but it is pretty cold out and i don't want to break any plastic.

Can anyone give advice on the removal?

any thoughts on what could be giving me the electrical grief.

it started with the cargo light only staying on for a couple of seconds after shutting off the vehicle, then the power lock on the tailgate, now no power locks on the vehicle until I start the engin, then it works??? is it a bad ground somwhere.. and if so.. where ????

it is below freezing right now so any ideas would be helpful before I go spend hours trying to figure this out.

The rear panel is pretty easy to remove. First use a flat-bladed screw driver to remove the plastic cover over the rope handle, then remove the 10mm bolt behind that cover.

There are a set of plastic fasteners along the bottom edge of the panel, these can be pried out using something like a plastic spatula. The panel "hangs" on a lip at the top near the bottom of the rear glass.

Update: I found the problem with my vehicle

A bunch wires in the accordian type joint between the rear hatch and the body of the vehicle were broken, I guess the angle at which the door closes and opens puts too much stress on it all. Well with the help of a computer tech neighbour we neatly sodered it all together and all is well.

I had similar problems.
Take the plastic retainer off the rubber accordion and throw it away! The wires have not moved in the last few years since I took mine off.

This plastic piece causes the wires to break!
