Well, other than the obvious, the biggest problem on these rigs is the fact that the 3.0's blow headgaskets like no tomorrow. If you put the right hardware on them when you rebuild them they should be alright. I've heard of some people having problems throwing rods, but this doesn't seem to be very common at all. Otherwise, the 3.0 is a little underpowered and gets sorry gas mileage for it's size ~15mpg is average. Otherwise, it's a pretty reliable truck. For 700 you could easily part it out and get your money out of it, especially if it's a new engine.

sajnaj? that name sounds eerily familiar? ford explorer guy? from www.explorerforum.com it does sound like a decent buy... i iwould buy it, and then just use it for a trial truck, then wouldnt care about body damage, as long as everything else works fine....

$700 for a parts truck with a new engine is probably a pretty good price. The engine alone goes for about $1200+. I probably wouldn't repair a rollover because the frame is probably bent or at least out of alignment.

well it said it rolled just onto the roof, probably got off camber and just tipped.... i did that to my explorer, and the body was gone, but it ran fine, the alignment and everything was still adjustable to in specs.... if it had full on rolled at high speed, it probably would have done more damage than "it was in a acdient it rolled on top of its cab and smashed down the side a little"

gas mileage and power probably about the same... way underpowered and 15 mpg.....
looking at those pics, it looks bad... your initial description wasnt that condition i thouhgt... however, a frame shop can twist the frame back and you can always replace the sheetmetal... looks like a great trail rig....

Do the 3.0's with auto tranny actually only get 15 mpg? I have a 92 SR5, 3.0, 5 speed extended cab, and I am getting 21-22 around town running the a/c. I don't understand why people on here like to bash the 3.0 so severely. Normally after the head gasket recall has been done, there aren't too many further problems. It is underpowered, but it is better than a 2.2, isn't it?

I haven't had any problems with my 3.0 and get about 19mpg in town with a 5-speed. And yes, 15mpg with the auto seems to be about standard. Look at it this way, the 3.0 with an auto gets about the same as a Landcruiser.
Underpowered? It does what I need it to do, but I do row the gearbox. Reliable? 209K and counting...but there are guys on the board that have blown headgaskets at almost any mileage or year and a few that have thrown rods or bearings. But I keep my revs below 4500rpm and Mobile1 in the crankcase and the old girl just keeps on ticking.

i did not think it was that bad untull he updated the pics and he said that the frame is straight i know that i can fix the body work but i guess when it rolled over the starter wiring harness fell on the headers and melted it and now it wount start does this sound likely

I think for the price, even if you don't repair it, you would be getting a good deal. Provided you don't mind tearing into things and parting it out, you would at least make a nice profit. From the looks of it, it shouldn't cost TOO much to get right. Was that cap on it when it rolled?

I think you got the makings of a rock buggy. If you were looking for a playtoy, I think you found it. If you were looking for a cheap truck, you might go ahead, pick it up and look for another pickup with a blown engine and drivetrain.
