Heli-coil kit for 3.4L oil pan to block bolts

Hi all,

Just curious if anyone has used heli-coils to repair stripped bolt holes on aluminum block for the 3.4L engine at the oil pan? I've got a couple that appear to be a bit stripped that I would like to fix for good.

I'm having difficulty identifying the exact size and thread of the OEM bolt, but here is the toyota part #90119-06727. I will attempt to track that info down from the local dealer tomorrow.

Does anyone have a specific kit they used with success in the past? Any tips on installation that you found useful?

Thanks!

Sometimes the RTV will get in the holes and make things tight. I'd try a hefty dose of brake clean and a good tap before a heli-coil.

As a machinist I highly recommend keensert over helicoil. Order from McMaster Carr in whatever size you need. Way stronger and rather than using helicoil tap uses standard tap.

The threads will be either a M6x1.00 Or M8x1.25 working on Toyota vehicles I also have the M10x1.25 and the M12x1.25 thread replacements

I really think Helicoil has become the common word for any type of thread replacements
