Hey guys I ordered some H4 headlight bulbs on ebay. They were listed as 60/55 Watts, but the bulbs I received were 100/90 Watts. Is this bad for the system to install them?

 

Yes. You want heavier gauge wire if you're going to use those wattages. While the stock relays will take the load, the wires won't, and will act as resistors (get hot, too), and limit the correct voltage to the bulbs and thus limit the resulting light output. There are kits available that include larger gauge (smaller number) wire, relays, and plugs to adapt to your existing wiring, and make the whole process simple.

 

Are you sure that they aren't 60/55 watt bulbs with an advertised equivalency of 100/90? Take a good, hard look at the packaging. If they really ARE 100/90, then not only will the wiring be a problem like Bill stated, the extra heat can damage and/or discolor the lens and housing.

 

the actual bulb itself says 90/100, so I think thats the wattage.

 

I have 65/55 watt bulbs that say they perform like 115/110 watt bulbs.

I'm running Piaa's and love them.
