headgasket problem
Ok, my yota truck (22re) blew the headgasket the other day, and i put a new one in (what a PITA) put back on the Intake, rotor and every thing, turn the key and just turns but doesnt try to start.
Things im sure of
1. The rotor was set to fire on cyclinder one, its at TDC and the cam timing is corect.
2. pretty sure all the vacuum lines are hooked up correctly.
3.) the gasket was torqued to 58ft/lbs
4.) i changed the fuel filter (what a poor location )
Any help would be appreciated, help me get my truck running again

I agree with 85runner ,make sure its on the compression stroke.Take out the plug, stick finger over the hole and have someone bump the ignition till you feel comp. on that cyl.

Whoa, this is dangerous! Sticking your finger in the hole and bumping the ignition is dangerous! You will be one less finger and a lot of pain.
Why not get a socket and a breaker bar, put the transmission in neutral, put the socket and breaker bar on the crankshaft pulley and rotate the crankshaft until you see the timing mark line up. Just my .02 cents

First of all not putting finger in but over to feel the pressure coming out the hole.the timing mark will line up twice in a 360 degree rev one is not the comp stroke that's what is meant by 180 out.

when i took it apart, it was at tdc and the rotor was pointing to piston 1, the cam is at tdc and everything is kosher, ill try it again, hope fully its out 180,
also to do a timing chain do you need to drop the oil pan?
