If your 99-00 4Runner has only ONE Catalytic Conveter from the factory, you can use the 96-98 X-Over Pipe with the 99-00 headers. Make sure you mention this to Downey about this when you are talking about the headers. I went thru this several times with Truck Performance Center and Downey.

The Edlebrock's are the same way, also. If you have only one factory Cat, you can use headers and x-over designed for the 96-98 trucks. You may need to block off emmissions fittings on the headers.

Paul is right, PP sells the Nickel Chrome Headers ONLY for $299, they do NOT include the X-Over pipe or anything else for that price.

I was very interested in the Downeys, but since for my year I would have to find a decent shop to fabricate a crossover and then have it ceramic coated. I think I'm going to go with the TRDs and have them Jet-Hot coated. One thing that I found quite interesting was when I called Downey, I asked them if the ceramic coating was on the inside, outside or both. Their response was "for the most part". What is that suppost to mean. Hmmmm...

Ahhhh..

Z-man:

So...there is a solution to the Downeys huh? I wonder how much Downey would charge for the crossover? And this works? Do you have to cap the emmisions on the Downeys or just the Edelbrocks?

Are you using the Downeys or know someone with a '99+ that has done the install??

Thx,

Paul

I would image that the heat over the years makes the bolts weak.

Wish me luck tomorrow trying to remove the remaining bolt out of the engine block.
I have experience removing broken exhaust studs. Let me know if you need help.

I was quoted a ridiculously low price for the combination of the 99+ Downey Ceramic Coated Headers and the 96-98 X-over pipe from Truck Performance Center at one point. I was just pricing things out, but it was less than $300 for everything including shipping. I couldn't afford to buy them at the time. Still can't.

Since there is NO difference in the design of the downpipe and cat location on ALL the trucks that have only one cat, I know that the Downey X-over will fit. The only diff between the trucks is the EGR setup on the older models. I spoke at length with both Downey and Truck Performance Center about this. The only difference in the 99+ Downey Headers is the lack of the EGR fittings, which are not needed.

The Eldelbrock's require modification of the EGR fittings to work. Zubaltec did this on his and so did Fatty CBR. I even posted pics of them in the thread that he started. Here's that thread. You posted several times in that thread, Paul. Boy, you've got a short term memory problem.

I'd suggest calling Truck Performance for quotes on everything if you want to go with the Downey's. Make sure you explain what you need.

Peace!

Hey...I'm old...I forget thing easy

I remember the Edelbrock post but didn't want to go that route. For some reason truckperformance doesn't carry the 99+ anymore. Maybe lack of sales. Probably call Downey back.

Thanks Z
