Has anyone replaced the ECM/ECU?????

Having strange intermittent issues with my 99 limited 4x4 4runner with 95k and auto trans. Intermittently the trans shifts out of OD and just stays in 3rd gear with the TC unlocked. It will do this for 4miles or 150miles. Have driven it in this state with my laptop hooked up to the OBDII port and ECT sensor and TPS look normal. Truck idles fine

Also when this issue happens my shift point are really really high. I am going very easy on the gas pedal and my 1st and 2nd gear shift points are in the 3500 - 4500 RPM range. I have disconnect the electrical plug going to the trans solenoids when this occurs and the trans shifts and drive normal with it unplugged.

This issue also occurs when the Cruise control unit in the engine bay is disconnected. Also disconnected the 4wd ECU in the driver kick pannel, which didnt resolve the issue either. I disconned the 4wd computer since it was flashing the 4wd indicator light at me and beeping one time. Just this morning, after pulling into a parking space and putting it in park, the A/T P light slowly came on. Shifted the tcase in 4low and back into 4hi put the truck in park and the A/T P light stayed off.

Starting to think I was better of buying a heep. Anyone have any suggestions?

Why are you changing the ECM?

are you getting a p1700 trouble code? i do

i might have to replace my ECM or my speed sensor.

I heard that if you have an ignition kill on your alarm setup and you replace the ECM, then you need to re program it.
Someone correct me if im wrong
