Had some Mod Q's about my first Toyota

So after trying to decide between two different Toyotas ( https://www.yotatech.com/forums/f2/cant-decide-my-first-toyota-47370/ ) I have ended up buying this:

It's a 1998 Runner, auto trans, with the Factory locker. :-D Its got 121k on it and I got the thing for a little over 8k, which for around here is pretty cheap. They said it had some sort of "Desert Package", which I've never heard of but I image its why it has the E-locker.

Anyway, I had a few questions. I'm trying to keep the truck relativly stock, but there are two mods I'd like to do soon. The first is the deckplate, which is pretty straight forward. My questions come from modifying the Locker. I've seen that you can disable the need for the truck to be in 4wL in order to lock the rear end (which locks almost instantly, btw). I was just wondering what anyone's experiances have been with this and if it seems like a good mod to do. Any feedback would be great, thanks.

congrats on the new purchase! as for the e-locker mod I did it a week or so ago... took me all of 10 minutes..... I've already tried it out in a couple spots and it's a great mod. I've always got wire and connectors laying around somewhere, so for me it was free-

Yeah it's the Rear Diff. The 4Runner doesn't have a center differenetial. It always "locked" when it's in 4wd.
