Grill Removal

I should be getting a new grill in the mail tomorrow and was wondering how to remove the old one. I think there are just 8-10 clips that hold it in place, but I could be wrong. To remove them you just reach inside the clip and push up on the tab, right?

A link would work too.

Thanks!

Deff a flathead screwdriver would work wonders.

Ok, no need for a scewdriver at all.
All you do is reach in the area and push up or down on the little prong. As you do this pull away from the vehicle. It works best (i find) to unclip the top middle, then the sides, then the bottom middle. Takes under 2 minutes..going slow.

Thanks for the replys. I was messing around with it today and I got a couple unclipped, but when I tried to clip them back in part of the clip broke. They still seem to be in place. I'm not sure what I did wrong.

Taking them out isn't that hard. Maybe I need to do something different to put them back in.

After you unclipped them and the black plastic "insert" clips were in the receiver holes on the vehicle did you take them out and put them back in the grille first?

haha, I was asking the OP to see why he broke his clips, though those things are pretty easy to break.

No. I didn't do that. Thanks for the info.

I just pushed it in the hole without even thinking about it.

Clemsonfan, do a search on grill removal and you will find scads of posts on this, infact I know that I personally have added to the search for grill removal. Here are a couple of pics in the beginning of one of my mods, the 2K headlight mod on a 98 here is the link for it https://www.yotatech.com/forums/f2/9...l-98-a-145621/ All the clips are nothing more then small tabs and each grill pillar has an open side on the left side of each pillar, press down and give the grill a gentle pull until you get them all released. I have never broken one yet (touch wood).
