hi yall
that was me, and it was 147 ( i had an apex digital speedometer also --the stock speedo isnt much help )
-- to remove the governor on tacomas and 4runners, you need to put a switch on the green/orange wire going into the ecu. you cant just cut it permanently or the check eng. light will come on because the ecu requires a speed sensor input for anything more than 25% throttle. So, put a switch on the inside of the glovebox which allows you to turn off the speed signal going into the ecu when you want to go fast. then switch it back on when your done racing. You would be surprized how much the truck picks up at high speeds with a supercharger.
This is at your own risk of course, i have Z rated tires and 17" rims on my 2wd. I wouldnt want to go that fast with some 35" tires, that could be dangerous.

Note the RPM reading at 60mph while in your highest gear. Divide the RPM by the MPH to get a divisor. So, if you were running 2300rpm at 60mph then the divisor is 38.333.
When you're topped out with the spedo, note the tach reading. Take that reading and divide by the number above to get your speed. Say it was 4200rpm, so 4200/38.333 = 109.56.
Obviously, the more accurate you can be with the RPM and MPH readings the better. An OBD II reader can help a lot in doing this.

So when you have the governor ecu setting "off" for racing, the "check engine light" is on until you switch it back to "on?" Is it the same for all yotas? I have a '90....
My 2nd gen tops out at 98 on flat ground at 85 degrees and 85% humidity. Going down a hill the governor cut out the engine at ~105 - I scared the absolute dog poo out of myself, cuz I thought I had somehow killed my drive train. That discovery of speed limitation was over 2 yrs ago, I try not to speed at all now....

the check engine light comes on only when the computer sees 2 consecutive starts and throttle input of 25% or more. by switching the governor off while the engine is already running and switching it back on before you turn it off, you effectively bypass that algorithm in the ECU and the computer thinks that everything is cool
Leaving the governor bypassed while starting the truck is how you get the light to turn on.
