Got Tinted

Got Tinted
I decided to get my front two windows tinted yesterday. I wanted them to match the rear, so I got 20% tint put on. It matches perfectly, and looks great. I got quoted 70 bucks in Denver for the job, but I found a place down here that only charged me $50. My friend Chris (aka 2runner) also got his 4runner tinted with me. I know that 20% is illegal, but the heck with that.

also, depending on what kind of factory tint you have, you will have to get that mirror tint. on my 2nd gen, the factory tint has a mirror/brown look to it..and the mirror tinti matches pretty good...ill try to find a pic for ya.

Looks good! I have tinted all my cars pretty much from day one.......it makes one hell of a difference in the summer. And you definately should doall the windows, not just the front. As for me...I got as dark as I could without getting the limo tint.

Looks good! I only have 35% on my fronts because technically its illegal here to have any tint on the front windows and where I was living during college the cops would pull you over for small things. Now that I'm back home I may have it pulled for 20% so it matches better.

The numbers represent the percentage of light transmitted through the tinted glass, so the lower the number, the darker the film allowed. Generally the films are sold as 5%(limo), 20%(dark), 35%(medium), 50%(light).
But, the site also says:S.U.V.s often have different regulations, which are not listed here.
Something else to think about... If you do any night wheelin' like some of us do here in the PNW, then having dark tint on the front sides and back window isn't a real good idea. If you get into a spot where you need a spotter, it's a REAL pain to deal with (and flat out dangerous) working against the tint.

Thanks guys! I say, if cops really give a damn and feel the need to pull me over for tint, then they have wayyy to much time on their hands. I'll take the risk. I had 35% on my last car in the front and it was pretty nice, and it was legal. But 70% is NOTHING, which really sucks. Hope you all get it figured out.

My sister has 5% all around on her 01 Camry. I usually have to roll down the windows and stick my head out when backing up at night.

I'm getting mine my fronts done too and I'm just gonna get it to match the rear and cops won't really give you a hassle unless they pull you over for something else and you still have your window up when they approach your vehicle otherwise they may not say a word.
