Got my OME's installed

Well I finally had a free afternoon and decided to take my truck in to get the OME's installed. It took the guy almost 2 hours to install them.and cost me just over $100. I was very surprized at the amount of lift I got from them. At the wheel well It was raised 2 1/2 inches from 34" to 36.5". I also measured at the lowest part of the tow bar. That went from 14 1/16" to 18 3/4". Since they are medium coils, I hope they will settle down by at least an inch. To anyone else who installed the medium coils, how much did yours settle? Sorry I don't have any pics. As far as the ride I will let you know when I go on a longer trip than 3 miles.

Finally took it on a nice lonk drive tonight. What a difference, It rides so much smoother now, don't even feel most bumps. The OME standards coupled with the rancho 5000 seems to complement each other. Not sure how they would do off road though. But I am happy. If they don't settle much more I may have to crank up the torsion bars a bit to even out the ride. Right now the rear is 1.5 inches higher than the front.

OME = Old Man Emu. In my case, I'm installing OME shocks and springs. They're made by ARB.

Paul,
I've had OMEs in the rear of my Runner for about 2 years now. They are great, mine too lifted the rear alot at first but they settle down to about 2" of lift. I cranked my front torsions bars for about 1" of lift and threw some 32s under it. Its got about a 1" rake front to rear, I like it- definetly looks lifted and I never rub the rear 32s. I installed OME shocks with it, which together with the coils rides great.

Just go wheel it !!!!!!!

Paul, I thought I read that you paired it with the Rancho's in your post before, but for some reason when I reread it I skipped over it! :pat:

I have the medium coils now, and I was debating cheaper-than-OME-shocks to pair with the coils just to save a little $$.
let me know how you like the ride after having it in for little bit.

Also, if I do go with Rancho's, what kind did you use? they are probably ones for a lift right?

Mike, I,ve had the ranchos on for about 7 years now so I don't think that they are for lifts. I am going to pull the bottom bolt off to make sure there is still enough travel left in them with my new setup. If not I will have to by new shocks.
