Got my Dynomax finally! Sorta...
I got the Flopro removed and a Dynomax installed today by my muff shop. Almost sounds like a good thing doesn't it?
It would be had they put the CORRECT Dynomax on. Instead of a 17747 they installed a 17741. They were all "It is only 6 digits off, probably the same thing." I damn near snapped. Needless to say I have at least another trip to the old muff shop to get a new muff, again.
While I was sitting here fuming, I decided to spec them both out. The 17741 is a 6" round muff with not enough flow rate for my riding lawn mower, much less my rig. A stock 4Runner with the 3.4 L motor needs at least 400 CF/m. Keep that in mind if you are out looking for a new muff. Don't let a shop treat you like mine has.
To further my resentment, they are trying to charge me full price for both muffs, claiming all they can do with the FloPro is throw it in the trash. I just happened to be in the garage when they were clearing out the area around my rig so I could get out of there, and watched and heard them say they will keep it and put it back on the shelf to go to some other unfortunate soul. I have a feeling this fiasco is far from over.
On the upside, even though it is too small, I LOVE the sound of the new DynoMax.

No. I went to a local shop called Exhaust Pro. Never again though after this fiasco. They do other work than exhausts though. I haven't had a good experience with them yet. I just figured "How could the mess up a muffler?" Well, they can.

sounds like a fun trip to the shop! you should keep your old muff, in case something happens to your dynomax.
have you heard of the new dynoflow exhaust setups? or maybe its dynomaster. basicaly they cross dynomax and flowmaster... hoping some retard would buy it thinking it was the dynomax or flowmaster... i think... haha shows you another marketing gimic, kind of like that add for the 3" revtek suspension lift on a tacoma that has like a 4" body lift too.
make sure you give the shop hell, and get your money back for the first incorrect install. if not, sue them

The manager of that shop is the moron. Both the FloPro and the wrong DynoMax muff were installed very professionally. Those guys just do as they're told, and do a good job of it. It is the manager that is the source of all the problems. Luckily the owner hangs out there quite a bit, so I will go to him if I must.

I am sorry to hear about your problem. I wish that everyone could be as honest as everyone else. It just doesn't make sense to me who they can lie and be stupid and survive as a business. Anyways, goodluck with the problem and let us know what you think of the real muffler. You will love it even more, by the way! Goodluck! :fireman:
