Got into an accident with my 2000 4Runner
Hi all,
I live in New York and we just got hit with a mayor snow storm. Anywayz... needlessly to say, i just got in a "small" accident with my truck.
There was a accident prior and as I approached the mess my truck hit ice and the rest is history.
I hit a trailer truck in the rear... luckily the trailer was pretty tall so my front-end did not hit, my truck slid right underneath the trailer.
Please review my pics and let me know your thoughts....
I want to get some ideas of how bad the damage is before I take it to my local body shop.
TIA,
maguirre

For a one bend accident, you sure did bend it in the wrong place. You are going to need a door, of course, but the frame around the windshield is going to be tricky. Either going to be real cheap or real expensive. If it were one of mine, I would find a used door if I didn't already have a spare for that side, and then head down to the salvage yard and cut out a good section of that piece around the windshield. I, myself, would weld it in there and live with a little scar.
Now, if that section is part of the roll over protection system or something like that, you may have trouble getting a body shop to make that kind of scab repair. I honestly have no idea how you would go about replacing that part of the vehicle without welding a section in.
Next time you get a chance, send us a picture of that spot from the inside. That is, if you can get the door open.

Your truck is going to need time on the frame machine to repair the A pillar. I don't know if it's enough damage to total it. It will be close.
Your truck may book for $6k so anything more than 50% damage value is a total loss under many policies.
This leaves you with $3k or so in repairs. You can easily have $1k in machine time to fix the pillar and door frame. Perhaps a door if they can't straighten the window. A mirror ($100), paint ($500+), and a windshield ($500).
