Glass paks

anyone ever put glass packs on their 4runner. If so how does it sound. Also anyone ever run straight pipes with a cat. If so tell me how that sounds. Thnx all i already have a new muffler, but i was just wondering how these would sound.

Well...ive got a funny story about it....but Me and some friends were wheeling at a trail, turns out someone else was on it...with the same 4runner just 1 year newer than mine. He was stuck so I hear the muffler alot. It was glass pack..i believe it was a cherry bomb. About $20, pretty cheap. It sounded ok. It had the same sound almost of a 93 or so blazer. They put out a distinctive sound. It sounded simular. Didnt appeal to me very much

really which one do you have. I dont remember mine off the top of my head and i dont want to go out to my car to look because it is freezing out there. But i think its a few years old. I dont know how old it is because i bought it used for 50 bucks cause my stock 3 disc changer ate all the cds and broke lol.

Check out this link. The Yotatech on the Web section has a few hidden things that are cool. I believe Christian has a couple videos in there to download. Actually, here you go:

i dont know the guy at pep boys told me that they rust fairly fast but since they are so cheap they are easy to replace. They shouldnt rust as fast if you keep them painted though. And my friend has a set of glass pacs and they have lasted him a long time and their is no rust on them whatsoever.

I had glasspacks on my 88' 4Runner 22RE. The packs lasted about 1-2 years before they started to rattle from pieces breaking off inside. They were also pretty loud and didn't create the right tone. I think they are made for larger 8 cyl and up engines. I also ran larger pipe and when the engine was reved up and I let off the gas it would sound like it was backfiring, backpressure problems. Overall I would put the money out for a higher quality muffler.
