Gearing??

Guys,
Im going to put on the 6 inch Fabtech suspension lift on my tacoma with 35 BFG MT's. I have a 2004 tacoma 4 door automatic, and I was wondering if I would need to put some gearing in my tacoma, or would it be decent with the stock gears? Thanks in advance.

with 35 you should go up to something like 4.58 (please correct me if this is wrong, its kinda late at night)

generally speaking:
4.10 is fine for 31"
4.56 is good for 33"
and 4.88 is best for 35 or larger

corrected for my ineptitude

with the 3.4 automatic and 35" tires, most people say go to 4.88.

going to suck a little with stock gears i think 4:88s is what you would want

depends on your needs and what your current stock setup is. what tires came with your truck..or better yet, check your axle code on the door jamb, and find your current ratio. if you plan on wheeling it, then sure regear. if you had oem 4.30's, and dont intend on wheeling it too much or dont mind the sluggish performance, its fine. hell, 4.10's are fine too. you dont NEED to regear, but to get your power band back to where it was before your upsized your tires..then yes regear. my current equivalent ratio is 3.81:1. a lil tall, but not unusable.

that said, im on 4.30's, 3,4L auto + 35's. there wasnt any noticable difference from the 33's i ran before...to tell you the truth there was a bigger more noticable difference going stock 31's to 33's. some drive and wheel 3.4L+auto on stock 4.10's...its all a matter of preference. im regearing to 4.88's soon.. as soon as i piece together my arb setup. if youre going to regear, at least throw in a locker in the rear while its all out in the open.

Def a good call with the locker......The only thing Im worried about with gearing is that I will lose my 3 year powertrain warrnty which is why im thinking about holding out on the gearing. I have the TRD package now on my taco, what would be a good locker to get and how pricey can they be?
