I've tried to do the LEDswap and bought lights from superbrightleds.com-failed, LEDs(even inverted ones) dont produce even light pattern to light up the dash, LEDs project lights mostly forward not to the side, mine looked like crap, so I gave up. I'm really interested in pics.
Ok everybody now...oooohh, ahhhhhhh

Only instead of installing a white face, just change out the bulbs.

I was thinking of replacing my instrument panel lights with blue LED's. Does it really look good, lol, does it get old after a while, looks nice in the pictures. Also, how do you replace the AUTO lights on the window switches. How about the ignition light, and the cig lighter light, ashtray. Is it possible somehow to change the color of the stock stereo screen? Do LED's work ok with the dash dimmer? Thanks

Butnut has a writeup on doing blue turn signals. Basically you just take out the cluster, take off the plastic coverings, and replace the green plastic slugs with some blue cutouts (ie from a blue transparant folder). Also, I found it looked better with some blue or superwhite bulbs. Otherwise you need thick layers of cutouts to get a good color, but I think that would also diminish the light. The inverted lens led's spreads the light in my cluster really well. In mine, it looks pretty uniform. The 74's behind the a/c panel is anohther story. THere is only 2 bulbs behind it and does not work too well with straight projection leds. So I put in flat tipped led bulbs and since they dont come frosted, I sanded the tip a bit and its pretty decent looking now. Not perfect but pretty close.
