Thorley SUCKS!
I got my thorley installed and the gaskets that came with it leak, pretty bad.I have an oem gasket but the heat shield on it hits the center of the header(gasket against the head but header hits heat shield, about a half an inch from the head).I'm thinking of using the dremel and cutting a small section of the heat shield off but was wondering if anybody else went through this and what did you end up using.

I dunno about Thorley. I have LCE and I've heard (among other things) that doubling up on gaskets has worked for some. I've also heard that the copper gasket is a good idea... maybe one of those suggestions might work for you?

I was thinking of doubling up but I am going to try cutting the oem one first.I have to go to Summit racing tomorrow for shocks for my blazer so maybe I'll pick up a copper one.

With the Thorley headers aren't you supposed to rtv up the gasket before you put it on? That's what I 've seen a few others with Thorley stuff do. Copper ones work good but so does hi temp rtv

check the welded bead around the holes in the flange. i'm guessing they do it to save time, but the bead on mine is screwed up and there's an air gap where one of the air injection holes are. sounds like a nasty knock, though it's just an exhaust leak.
gonna take it off today, widen the bead and grind it flat.

Yeah,it's leaking where the air injection block off plates are.I tried the oem gasket and it leaks worse than the thorley ones.

Thorley Sucks!I have used thorley gaskets, oem gaskets, copper gaskets and they all leak on the underside of the header at the head.I even welded in the air gaps off of the #2 and 3 ports to seal it better as it was leaking there too.I am so mad because I just sold and sent off my pacesetter to another yotatecher.I think I am going to buy another header and junk this piece of crap!

From what I've read over the past year that I've been on this board, you can't go wrong with the LCE header for power and longevity (stainless steel). I know when I upgrade my exhaust next year, I'm going for one of those.
My lovely 2 cents
