Fuel guage TSB, why my toyota sucks...
Well I've owned it for 6 days now and it's costing me a friggin arm and a leg!!! I thought toyotas were reliable (haha)...
Okay rant over, well I have now had the fuel sender replaced, had the pump done too. Now the dealer tells me that they have to send the circuit board in to have it set to my mileage and cannot tell me when they will get it back. Actually I spoke with two techs with two very different stories. One told me it had to be sent in and had no idea how long it would take, the other told me they just put a sticker on the door with the accurate mileage???
Who has had to have their circuit board replaced? How was it handled?
Sorry if this makes no sense, I'm pissed, time to
Worst of all, the dealer (non toyota) that sold it to me probably knew it was faulty...
Any help, ideas or flaming is welcome

search and read TSB EL010
my 99 required the circuit board fix and not the fuel sender. they had to verify my story (1 day) and then ordered the part. then they called me when the part was in so they could change it out. i am not sure if they just changed the circuit board or the whole thing, but whatever it was, it worked

Yep, did lotsa searching, that's how I found out about the TSB. Guess I just needed to tell someone whose been there and whine a little
Everyone else asks me what's going on with my T4R and when I tell them they look at me like I'm purple... Guess they are not car people
I'm gonna get the part from the dealer and put it in myself. There are no special things I need to know to do this right? I do my own maintenance and am fairly handy...
Does anyone know where I can get the specific TSB? I tried phorunner's site but it is down.
Other than that this site rocks!
Thanks all for the help!!!

By reading TSB EL-010 , you can confirm which parts you need based on VIN. If the circuit board is needed, then go to the dealer, fill out the odometer form (part of the TSB), and order the part. It will arrive in two or three days, installation is a breeze. They may hassle you about your mileage changing between the time you order and the time you install, so don't drive there in your 4Runner, and tell them it is not running due to needing other service.
Once that is done, EL-010-99 Fuel gauge recalibration procedure
After your gauge / sending unit is fixed, please take a few minutes and new red color for my 4Runner'96
