Fuel filter/ line leaking!

Been awhile since Ive owned a Toyota, picked up a 01 4runner ,V6 5VZ, and was doing some maintenance on it.

Went to replace the fuel filter, and new one wouldn't stop leaking. It came with brass pinch washers, but they didnt sit well in the filter...

So, went to put old fuel filter back on, same thing- lesking on the tank side!

Now after using a normal wrench (didnt have a flare wrench) the line fitting is stripped bad.

I cant find a part number for the fuel line going into the filter anywhere. Its the short hard line that has the fuel filter fitting and the pressure connect on the other end.

Any help or advice would be appreciated, the 4runner is stranded. Bah!

I should add that during the drive home from buying it, it was stuttering on hard acceleration, but ok at cruising speed. Then, got a CEL. These codes came up:
Code po300
Po304
Po306
And the 'Vsc off /vsc trac' lights come on, and dont go off.
For the codes, I read that it could be bad fuel, spark plugs... So thats what prompted me to do the fuel filter; and was going to do plugs and wires, but now Im dead in the water.

Pretty sure when I changed my ff I didnt have any brass/copper washers. If you didnt have any old ones to replace, try taking those new ones out...if I read correctly. Hope that explains the leaking.

You can try tightening some large vice grips on the rounded hex until no more leaks.

Well, I went and bought another filter, and sure enough, it didn't have brass washers. Used vice grips, and so far no leaks!

went and started plugs and wires. Cyl 1 had a pretty fair amount of oil above the boot, and on the plug. Ugh.
no other plugs had oil though. I tightened the valve cover a bit more. At least I know why I got a misfire code.

Are you still having misfire symptoms? If not, either keep driving until the code clears (can take forever) on its own or just reset manually.

Just a quick follow up, drove 4 hours straight and had no reoccurring symptons, so maybe I lucked out and it was just a seeping valve cover gasket.
