Fuel brand
Does anybody know about the Fuel brand? I heard someone said that some gas stations are better than others.
Example: Mobil gas is better than Total gas, and Total gas is better than Philips gas, Taxaco gas ....and so on.
How can this be since they are listed the same grade (Unleaded 87, Unleaded Plus 89, or Premium Unleaded 91......). In my town Mobil gas price is always higher than othe brand about 8 to 10 cents/gal.
Any explanations????????????????????

What Philly said. My petro industry friends say it's all the same stuff when it arrives at the distribution center. Then the different brand additives are mixed in and there you go. Sort of. I've used Chevron with good results on normally aspirated and forced induction engines for years with consistently good results. I like Techron PR and the engines seem less prone to detonation compared to all other brands I've tried. YMMV.

We have very few Chevron and 76s down here. I usually try to use either Citgo or Amoco (which is now BP). Citgo uses only fuel from the US so I try to support our oil companies. I will use other gas though if it's a lot cheaper (rarely) than Citgo. My dad does a lot of traveling and he uses Amoco a lot. Says it gives him a bit better gas mileage and has heard that it is better for the engine. I have a list of all the gas stations that use American gas. I may post it later for all those interested.

I've never noticed a difference from one brand to the other, I usualy get it wherever I find the best price or at the nearest gas station to where I am if I am going someplace.

to my knowledge my runner has only tasted Chevron gas, although I do not know what my dealer put in it before they handed the runner over to me, it had a full tank of gas

I usually try to stick to the lowest price, but I always stay away from the obviously "off" brands. If there is a Sunoco, Mobil, Amoco or Exxon with reasonable prices and I'm passing buy, then that's what I get. If I had to choose 1 brand it would be Sunoco. At the moment, the Sunoco station in my town is the 2nd cheapest in the county.

i use BP/Amoco fuel regularly and a tank of Chevron premuim about every 3-5 tanks. working good so far. QT gas is the worst, its awful. cheap, but not wort the extra $1 you save.

I paid $1.84 a gallon for 93 octane today. Usually I buy gas from the Citgo around the corner from my house at about $1.70 a gallon. Today I was in a bind with little gas and had to stop at the first station I could find.
