Frustration from MPG.

This last tank:

1) Switch the Napa Gold Taurus Filter.
2) Valvoline instead of Mobile One.
3) New MicroGard Fuel Filter
4) Running alot lighter on the pedal than I usually do.
5) I've had the ISR Mod for about a month. It seemes to have made my MPG worse???
6) Shell V-Power (Octane 93)

Overall MPG: 15.4 MPG city.

I usually easily get at least 16.5 if not 17 per gallon. Time for more Sea-Foam?

But then it seems like the Oxygen/Gas mixture isn't right because alot more air is getting in thatnks to the ISR mod. The seems to "Struggle" with 87. Im runngin 89 this next tank.

When were the plugs changed last? Wires, air filter, coolant? All those will help increase mileage when they are changed. You might have a dragging brake, my rear pass. was dragging really bad, I couldn't move it with a huge prey bar, and I still got 24mpg; I do have the 3rz...

Dont tell me to get used to it. This is the worse I've head in a few months...I know when something isn't normal.

I'm changing the plugs next week, and wires too. Just got a new radiator and coolant about 1.5 months ago.

I agree. If you want respectable gas mileage, you shouldn't drive a 4runner.

ide have to agree but i would also check the plugs and all that stuff like stated above. as the motors life goes on it will slowly do a bit worse than when it was brand new cause of buildups and such in the motor

i just think it happens and just try your best to take care of what you have. it sounds like you do, but its a pretty small decrease and it could be one small thing or many little things hard to tell. how many miles are on it btw

I have a 99 runner and I have never ever got above 19.9 in any situation! In the city its always 15-18 MPG depends on how I drive. Put it in 4WD for the winter and it really, really sucks..lol

run 87 for at least 3 tanks to let the Ecu get a grip. I run 87 w/ ISR and a 6" deck plate. I have headers and a see 20 mpg city and 21 at 80mph on the freeway

turn off that performance thing unless you need it. mine has a performance chip, and when its on, the gas drops to about 13-14 a gallon. i turned it off, and its getting almost 18 to the gallon. with 87 gas. those performance things are great, but they also suck gas.

That sounds about right for the city MPG in a 3rd gen runner. My 3.0 2nd gen gets 12MPG in the city...on a good day. IF you are that worried about it, check your tire pressure, and also, check your timing, because you're running 93 in something made to take 87, so that might have something to do with it. Either way, if you can't fix it, you're better off running 87 because you'll save more $$$ running 87 and getting 15 MPG than you would running 93 and getting 18MPG.
