front of truck clanking somone help!
my 1996 tacoma is clanking when i go over bumps in 4wd, what is the problem, i think its the differential? not sure and suggestions.

I doubt it's your differential. Are you 100% sure that it is only when in 4 wheel drive? I would get under the truck and give your CV axles and sway bar a good shaking to see if either of those is causing the clanking. I had a bushing split on my swaybar once. That caused a nice clanking noise when I went over bumps.

Have you installed a diff drop lately? I have seen guys install these and not torque the front diff mounts properly or add loctite when reassembling. These bolts can work their way loose and cause a clanking sound as the front diff rotates under load or while braking. Probably a long-shot but couldn't hurt to check...I have personally seen and fixed it.
