front axle change out
I have a 97 tacoma with a loose front pinion shaft and was thinking of just swapping the whole ifs axle from a junker for now till I can build this one and change gears.
What year donar trucks do I need to look for for a bolt in swap?
Thanks for any help. I have early 90s toys but this is the first 4th gen for me.
This is a 2.7L reg cab.

Anybody know if a 96 3.4 v6 auto w/lockouts used the same gear ratio as a 97 2.7 4cyl 5 speed w/lockouts from the factory?
Can you tell from the vin?
Thanks in advance.

best way to find info on this site is to search...but do it like this...
type something like "ifs diff interchangability tacoma yotatech" in google.
try that. I doubt alot of people are going to look up these basic questions for you. Try searching like I suggested above.

Best way to search the VIN on a parts website it will give you axle ratios, more then likely you will need both vins. Not 100%. But I believe the 4cyl and the 6cyl axles are different IE strength and what not! Good luck!

Thank, can't get the other vin though. Thought the fronts were both 7.5s and the rear was where the larger diffs were. I'm only familiar with the early 90 models. Hoped someone would know if they used anything other than 4.10s while the deal was in front of me. Could have grabbed front and back I guess and gotten the heavier rear as well. Prob end up pulling this one and driving it as a 2wd while I build it. That way I can go ahead and add a locker or just spool it.
