Flat spot at 3000 rpm
I have a 97 Tacoma 4x4 with the V6 engine. When I'm accelerating I always hit a flat spot around 3000 rpm and at about 3300 rpm it feels like it's normal again and it pulls strong all the way to 5000 rpm. Any ideas what the problem is? Could it be the chip, or is this normal for my year engine?

Given that you've taking care of the rig being able to exhale correctly with the headers and the exhaust, have you done anything to get it to inhale better? i.e, a deckplate or FIPK or at least a free-flow filter? That may help some...
I'm still learning the engine game, but If I had to guess, I'd say that you're leaning out. If so, then you need to find a way to get more fuel to the engine at that RPM. There are a number of fuel management units around, personally, I use the PerfectPower SMT-5. The longest thread on the board is dedicated to it:

It has done this from the day I bought it (all stock), with 39,000 miles, it now has about 48,000 miles on it. I did all the modifications myself, so the problem was already there. I have a K&N filter and removed the elbow in the airbox, so I think I'm getting plently of air... I had the truck for a year now and did all the mods this spring.

i have a '99 and it has done what you're describing from day one. it kinda sputters just a bit around 3K and then it picks right back. it's never gotten better or worse and i have a little over 100K on it now. i haven't done any mods to the intake / exhaust yet (lazy) but i plan to eventually. just thought it would help to know you're not alone

Well, it's nice to know I'm not the only one with this, but it would be nice to fix it somehow. It's especially noticable now that I'm pulling a boat, it takes longer to get past the flat spot...
