Flange yoke leak????

I just put in a used tranny/transfer case in my 88 runner(5sp) and both the flange nuts were loose when I got it. What are they supposed to be torqued down to and is there an easily replaceable seal if the leaks don't stop??? Do the nuts need to be replaced each time they're removed so they can be tapped into the slot again?? Thanks for your time..................TIM

It is recommended to change the nuts but I have removed mine 1 time so I did not replace. Does your flange have a small axle looking seal in the middle of it thats leaking or is yours coming from around the axle output shaft seal?

I'm not sure about the seal, I just tightened the nut to stop the oil from gushing out more. I wasn't sure where or what kind of seal there was or what kind of damage can happen from coming looses??? Thanks for your time... TIM
