Fitting 35's on a 3rd gen without going sky-high.

Right now I am still on stock wheels and tires but I would love some 35's. You guys say they are great off road, what makes them great in your opinion? Is it the stability, traction, or what? I assume they would be sweet but I have no idea, only my imagination. Hey sc4runner what is your squeek sound, brakes or wheel bearing? did you figure it out? How long have you been running those tires, thanks!

Sean, great job, very clean! quick question though, sorry if im not paying attention but i want to do the exact same thing to my 2000 4 runner and i wasnt clear as to whether you are currently running a body lift or not with your current setup, i dont think you are but i wanted to be sure? i havent lifted my body yet but in just looking at mine i didnt think a 35 would fit and still have full compression, great write up by the way
thanks

I think the extra diff clearnce is huge, espically in snow, and rutted trails. Even when at 10-14psi my sidewalls dont flex much, but I still have the low psi traction. The added height makes it easier to climb boulders, ledges, etc. Becaus e the sidewall is taller it can support more weight at lower psi, thus stability is improved at low psi settings...
All around they are noticiblly better than 33's.

I plan to run 35's and intend to do the extensive trimming like TLT and I was wondering what other suspension set up's would work, I want to do it with no bl if possible. TLT is using sway-a-way but those are expensive i'm assuming since I can't find a price anywhere (maybe its one of those "if you have to ask you can't afford it" things?)

Awesome man! That's one badd 3rd gen. I was trying on sat to throw on 35's with the extra cash i had saved, but they couldn't even bolt the suckers up and were trying to talk me into new wheels...it's finally nice to know what it's gonna take to run those bad boys. Great write up and nice job! I thought i saw aftermarket UCA's what kind are those and how much do they run?

Thanks for all the positive responses guys...its been ages and its really cool that people are still finding these old articles of use. I sold the runner to a guy up in WA state and he's keeping it going and making it his own. He blacked out the grille and wheels, looks really stealth.
My new rig is an '05 Tacoma DC LB 4x4 with TC LT up front and a custom rear setup with 18" of travel. All Fox suspension with bypasses on all 4 corners and bumps in the back....and a bunch of other junk. So far it's been a super fun rig but I do miss the old 4Runner! That thing really could do most everything pretty damn good.
