According to my Chilton's manual, for the 5VZ-FE (97 to 2000), the firing order is 1-2-3-4-5-6, believe it or not. Standing in front of the vehicle, looking towards the back, the left bank of cylinders are numbered 1,3 and 5, and the right bank of cylinders are numbers 2,,4 and 6(front to back). Make sure everything else is reconnected, are the boot wires on tight? Maybe a bad plug as well. Good luck!

Spend the $$ to buy actual Toyota OEM wires. You will eventually...
The Napa wires I had for a short time made me lose gas mileage, power, and caused lots of interference on the radio. She ran noticeably better with Toyota parts.
YMMV

I realize this post is old but my problem is new and similar to h7009’s. I
replaced the wires + plugs on my ’96 T100 3.4L yesterday(NKG dual electrode
plugs, Bosch wires). When I fired it up it sputtered & shuttered, miss-fired, but
would idle. I swapped the wires on cyls 1 & 3 thinking I mixed them up.
Same thing. Then I then discovered I left he coil disconnected on cyl. 5,
so I reconnected it. Still same thing. I re-swapped wires on 1 & 3 so now I
have wires as such:
1 - 2
3 - 4
5 - 6
The motor will not even start now. On the Haynes diagram in this thread,
does the little box to the left of the cylinder diag. show which cylinders the
wires are supposed to be connected to?
1 - 4
3 - 6
2 - 5 ???
Thanks.

I think I found my answer on the thread below. I'll know for sure
when I get home an hour or so to try it.
